History of Pilates
Mr. Pilates was born in Germany in 1983. Due to a weak body since childhood, he was determined to strengthen his body and learn a variety of exercise therapy.
By the time Mr. Pilates was 14 years old, he was physically strong enough to be a model in anatomy pictures, and he gradually developed a systematic way of moving through practice.
In 1912, 32 yearsold Joseph. Pilates moved to the United Kingdom, and during the First World War, Pilates's unique and effective exercise therapy helped a large number of prisoners recover, and then received public attention.
In 1926, at the age of 46, Mr. Pilates emigrated to New York and met his wife Clara (she was a nurse) ,on a ship bound for the United States.
On Fifth Avenue in New York, the Pilates couple set up the Pilates Studio (The Pilates Studio), which specializes in providing targeted exercise therapy training for famous dancers, actors and athletes, and has gained attention in the United States because of the remarkable effect, and later gradually gained recognition and affirmation from countries and people from all walks of life around the world.
Until around 1960, Mr. Pilates and his wife continued to teach the studio, which was later run by his main student, Ms. Romana Kryzanowska.
Mr. Pilates died in 1967.
